GARLIC Mashed Potatoes

What you'll need

  • 1 MEDIUM-SIZED POT

  • 1 PAN

  • Heating source.

  • Potato Masher


  • 3 MEDIUM POTATOES
    Diced

  • 2 TABLESPOONS GARLIC
    Minced

  • WATER

  • SALT
    (About 2 TABLESPOONS)

  • FLOUR

  • 12 OUNCES MILK
    Suggest 2%

  • 3 TABLESPOONS BUTTER

What to do

POT:

  1. ADD water about halfway

  2. ADD salt

  3. BEGIN heating pot over MEDIUM-HIGH heat

  4. DICE the Potatoes into 1/2 inch cubes

  5. ADD Potatoes

  6. ADD Garlic when water is boiling
    *
    CAREFULLY!*

  7. COVER

  8. COOK for 20 minutes

PAN:

  1. ADD Milk

  2. ADD Butter

  3. HEAT pan over medium heat until butter melts

  4. STIR frequently to prevent burning

  5. REDUCE HEAT to low

    HOPEFULLY, this step will be done at about the same time as the potatoes.
    TURN OFF HEAT BEFORE THE NEXT STEP

POT:

  1. TURN OFF HEAT

  2. DRAIN water trying to keep as much garlic as possible

  3. MASH Potatoes for 30 seconds

  4. ADD Milk and Butter from PAN

  5. MASH Potatoes until blended

  6. CHECK that the potatoes have the consistency you want

    IF POTATOES ARE RUNNY

  7. ADD 1 TABLESPOON of FLOUR

  8. STIR potatoes (you can use the masher to stir/ fold)

  9. CHECK that the potatoes have the consistency you want

  10. REPEAT Steps 20 to 22 until desired consistency is achieved.

  11. SERVE.

NOTES:

  • You can peel the potatoes if desired, but it's not necessary

  • Adding the garlic to the potatoes while they cook infuses the potatoes with the garlic flavour

  • Use Minced Garlic that comes in a jar to save effort!

  • For PLAIN mashed potatoes, simply do not add the garlic!
