Sausage Peppers and Onions

What you'll need

  • 10-inch FRYING PAN

  • A plate

  • Heating source.

  • Black Pepper

  • 1 TABLESPOONS Butter

    • (Can substitute olive oil)

  • 1 Large Onion

    • Sliced

  • 1 Large Green Pepper

    • cut into strips

  • 2 Italian Sausage Links

    • About 3.5 ounces each

What to do

  1. Fill the PAN with 1/2 INCH of water.

  2. Add Green Peppers to the edge of the PAN

  3. Add Black Pepper to the Green Pepper

  4. Add Sausage to the middle of the pan


  1. Set heat to medium-high

  2. Cover PAN

  3. Bring PAN to a Boil

  4. Cook 12 Minutes


  1. Remove Cover from PAN

  2. Allow water to evaporate

  3. Cook 1 Minute until Sausage browns

  4. Move Sausage to a plate

  5. Add butter

  6. Add onions

  7. Mix the Green peppers, onions, and butter well

  8. Place the sausage on top of the vegetables

  9. Cook until onions are soft and translucent (3 to 5 minutes)

  10. Cover PAN

  11. Reduce heat to LOW

  12. Cook 3 minutes

  13. Remove the sausage to Plate

  14. Cut the sausage into 1/2 INCH circles
    IMPORTANT: If there is any pink left inside of the sausage:

      1. add the sausage back into the pan

      2. Stir the pan well

      3. Cover the PAN

      4. Cook another 2 minutes

      5. Repeat these steps until pink is gone

  15. Add Black Pepper to taste

  16. Stir the sausage and vegetables together

  17. Serve

NOTES:

Do not piece the skin of the sausage. This will allow the juices to stay inside the sausage, keeping it moist and maximizing flavor.


Since we are using UNCOOKED PORK the internal temperature of the sausage must reach 160 F. Use a food thermometer to be sure, if you don't have one make sure there is no pink left in the middle of the sausage.


You can eat this dish by itself, or add it to pasta/subs to make it go further.

You can add marinara sauce if you like.
