Add 2 TABLESPOONS Oil to PAN
Heat pan over medium-high heat until butter is melted
Arrange Mushrooms in a single layer leaving a little space between each one
Lightly salt the mushrooms
Cook 3 to 4 minutes until mushrooms are brown
cook 3 to 4 minutes until brown on the other side
Remove mushrooms from pan
Repeat steps 1 to 8 until all the mushrooms are cooked
Serve/ Add Mushrooms to food being cooked.
Do not "crowd" the mushrooms.
Too many mushrooms will cause them to simmer/steam in their own juices. Keeping them apart will reduce this effect. It's OK if you have to do several batches, the mushrooms cook pretty fast.
Do not stir the mushrooms
We want the heat to hit the same area to form a "crust".
They will start to brown on one side as you cook them.
Flip them when they are well browned, this happens in about 3 to 4 minutes.
For recipes like pasta sauce, you can add the mushrooms when you add the meat.
For recipes like steak, add the mushrooms right before serving: usually on top of the steak.
For recipes like grilled cheese, add the mushrooms to the sandwich before cooking the sandwich.
